Reset Your Momentum for 2026

Reset Your Momentum for 2026

Hello 2026! A new year brings new goals, new intentions, and for many of us, the home stretch of the academic year. Whether you’re a senior eyeing the post-grad horizon or an underclassman mapping out your next internship, this time of year is full of "big picture" thinking.

But let’s be real: after finally getting a chance to decompress over winter break, it can be hard to flip the "on" switch again. If you’ve enjoyed your downtime a little too much and are feeling overwhelmed by the year ahead, you aren’t alone.

The secret to a successful year isn't a total "rebrand"—it’s about building a toolkit of small habits that lead to big momentum. Here are three simple steps I’m using to get my "success cap" back on this month:

1. Take a Stroll

Getting back into a routine doesn't have to start in class. I’ve found that going for a walk is the best way to transition from rest to productivity. It’s my dedicated time to listen to a growth-oriented podcast or simply process my goals for the week. That movement helps calm down any mental clutter that I have going on.

2. Change Your Scenery

If your bedroom or dorm has become your place to doom scroll, watch TV, or just nap, it’s time to get some movement into your routine. My favorite thing to get motivated again is to head over to my favorite coffee shops with my laptop, journal, and a list. My first session of the year (today) was dedicated to:

  • Reflecting: Journaling through my wins and lessons from 2025, writing out my values, intentions for the year ahead...

  • Visualizing: Building my 2026 vision board.

  • Re-igniting: Digging back into the projects I put on hold in December.

3. Curate Your Content

What you listen to helps determine how you think and act. To get back into a "CEO mindset," I’ve been diving into The Diary Of A CEO with Steven Bartlett.

Currently, I am listening to the episode: "Harvard’s Behavior Expert: The Psychology of Why People Don’t Like You." I know it sounds negative and interesting, but it dives into communication, negotiation, and transforming anxiety into excitement. Then to feel updated on what is going on in our world, I always feel like I have my life together when I get my news Monday through Friday listening to a Morning Brew Daily episode on my way to work or to the gym in the morning.

Let’s Make 2026 Your Best Year Yet

Motivation is a muscle—you just have to start training it again. I hope these tools help you find your focus as we kick off this exciting year.

I’d love to support you in your journey! If you want to dive deeper into your 2026 goals, feel free to reach out to me for a 1:1 chat or send an inquiry to hello@wibcollective.org.
